USPS Cubic Pricing offers lower shipping rates for small, heavy packages. To qualify, a package must weigh 20 pounds or less and have its longest side under 18 inches. Note that rolls and tubes are not eligible for cubic rates.
Instead of weight, Cubic Pricing bases shipping costs on a package’s dimensions and destination zone. This makes it a great option for businesses shipping small, dense items. While most carriers — including USPS, FedEx, UPS, and DHL — determine rates primarily by weight, USPS Cubic Pricing gives cost-conscious shippers a way to save on compact, heavier packages.
ShipLeap does support USPS Ground Advantage Cubic pricing. Cubic pricing will be considered as long as all dimensions fit the cubic pricing criteria.
However, if the standard pricing ends up being less than the cubic pricing, the standard price will show. This way, you can guarantee the lowest rate between the two price charts.
You can know that the cubic rate was purchased when "cubic" shows on the label. See below.
